ENVE Expands M Series, Now Shipping M60 Plus
June 30, 2016 – Ogden, Utah, USA ENVE is pleased to announce that their latest M Series wheel, the ENVE M60 Forty Plus (M60 Plus) is now shipping. The naming nomenclature of the M Series wheel line indicates a descent to climb preference ratio that riders can identify with to select the best wheel for how, where, and what they ride. The M60 Plus is tuned for aggressive trail riders who want to run a 2.8 to 3.0 inch plus size tyre, on a short to mid-travel plus compatible mountain bike.

Each wheel in the M Series line-up has been designed for use with specific tyre sizes. In the case of the M60 Plus, the rim has been optimised for 2.8 to 3.0 inch tyres and the inner rim width is 40mm with an external rim width of 49mm. “Our goal is to make the ultimate rim for a given category and application, in this case the Plus platform. The shape of the ENVE M60 Plus with its 40mm internal rim width saves weight and maximizes the interface between rim and the most popular 2.8 to 3.0 inch tyres,” stated ENVE Marketing Director Jake Pantone.
With the large volume nature of plus tyres, tyre manufacturers have implemented tyre constructions that yield weights competitive with those of the more robust lower volume trail tyres. The result of this compromise in the name of weight savings and ride quality is less pinch flat resistance in the tyre’s construction. ENVE took note of these compromises in tyre design that are intended to keep the tyres light and rideable and set out to design a rim that would allow the system to maintain a competitive weight and aid in the reduction of pinch flats. According to ENVE, they accomplish this by manipulating the layup of the 25mm deep rim to be more compliant and shaping the hookless bead to be as forgiving as possible.
The ENVE M60 Plus rim weighs in at an industry leading 455 grams for a 27.5 rim. In addition to the benefits in compliance and pinch flat resistance, the M60 Plus rim leads the M60 category in terms of impact resistance and lateral stiffness.
