The Big Fella Deluxe Gravel Disc

If you are 100kg – 150kg or looking to load your bike up for touring and fear that your factory wheels are not up to the job. You’re going to need the strongest Gravel disc wheels around. Our Big Fella Gravel Disc Duluxe wheelset is for you.

This is the Deluxe version of our Big Fella Disc Gravel wheelset hand-built by Strada with the renowned Hope PRO5. Hand-built in our workshop in West Sussex, it’s designed with the heavier rider and touring rider in mind. We use a high-quality rim and hub combination. These are laced for maximum strength using a 32-hole 3 cross for both the front and rear. The Big Fella Deluxe Gravel Disc doesn’t break the scales for a strong wheelset.

Rim tape is fitted as standard and comes with our true-for-life warranty.

The Big Fella Deluxe Gravel Disc Rim Spec

For 2025, we updated the Big Fella range to now incorporate Gravel into the lineup, using the broader DT Swiss U623 model to accommodate Gravel tyers. This tubeless-ready rim is 22mm in depth and has an internal width of 25mm. The rim is laced with Sapim Black Race spokes and brass black-plated locking nipples for a strong combination.

Our Deluxe Gravel Disc Hub Spec

We use the bombproof Hope Pro5 C-Lock hubs manufactured in the UK for the Big Fella Deluxe Gravel Disc wheelset. These offer quality press-fit bearings that are easy to service. The Hope Pro5 C-Lock is available in Shimano HG 8-9-10-11-12 speed, Microspline (For new GRX 10-45 / 10-51 ratios), Sram XD/R, Campagnolo, 10-11-12 speed, free hub configurations.

The Pro5 press fit assembly allows the hub to work in almost any currently existing axle configuration, therefore, making them compatible with almost every bike. These features and the super lightweight design of all the hub parts highlight the racing legacy of this classic hub.

Spokes + nipples

We use Sapim Black Race spokes and bras black-plated nipples for a quality, durable and comfortable performance.

For the Big Fella Deluxe Gravel Disc build, we use Sapim black race spokes for strength. To prevent the spoke nipple from losing tension under high loads, we use a silver and brass-plated spoke nipple with a plastic insert.

Note: We have also added more freehub body options and axle types to cover all group sets. Please select the freehub body type and axles from the drop-down menu.

This wheelset is Tubeless compatible. However, it’s also compatible with standard tyres and Tubes (for this set up we recommended a valve length 42mm). Our Tubeless Valves and Sealant kit options are available to purchase in the drop-down menu.

All Strada wheels are covered with our ‘True for Life Warranty’, meaning if you break/bend a spoke/nipple (fault or not fault), we will repair and return the wheel/s.
