Description
Rim – the Major Tom from Velocity is a tubular cyclocross wheelset and is popular choice on the race circuit. The Major Tom rim is 23mm wide which allows for better traction by running low tyre pressure and providing a larger contact surface for gluing and adds strength without additional weight (470g). The Major Tom is disc specific with all black finish. Decals can be easily removed with a hairdryer.
Hubs – Novatec D771 and D772 4-Way fit 6 bolt hubs are Shimano / SRAM 10 or 11 speed ready (spacer supplied) and XD, both work well in this build. Tough and easy to service with cartridge bearings and at a good weight too. We can also supply Hope RS4 centre lock or DT Swiss 350 / 240s range (centrelock) custom order.
Spokes + Nipples – we build them 28 hole , 2 cross front and rear (for riders up to 80-85Kg). Please contact us to discuss a 32 spoke build if you require a little extra strength. We use black bladed Italian made spokes for reduced weight and strength where needed, and an alloy nipple in black.
Weight – 1725g a pair with Novatec 6 bolt hubs + bladed spokes + alloy nipples.
Tubulars – we can supply (and fit) Challenge and FMB tubulars.
